FAQ

How about an unattended LED pad?

1. The time to put the patient in a gown or       take off their clothes, have them lie            down, turn the laser/pads on and off,            explain how to be careful not to burn,     etc. takes more time than a 1-2 minute     Apollo treatment.
2. With LED pads you need to worry more         about contamination (skin diseases     being transferred) and burns.
3. It is easier to wipe off a small probe than     to clean or protect a large pad.
4. LED pads are good for more superficial          applications.

Visible Red (VR) vs. Infrared (IR):
The Difference?

1. For most indications, infrared is     more versatile because it            penetrates more deeply. The Apollo     is infrared and is  810 nm.
2. If you want to treat more                superficially (like a skin problem),     you just move the IR probe more     quickly over the surface of an area     and treat a little bit longer than with     VR.
3. VR, which is often around 600 nm is      better for skin problems, but is not     as versatile as an IR probe.

Why would I need the aluminum travel case?

1. The aluminum carrying case is great      if you are traveling in a car, plane,      etc. and need to protect your      laser.
2. If you are going to place your laser     on a table in your clinic, the carrying     case has a foam insert that makes     your portable laser a more stable     desk top unit, with inserts for the     probes so they don't get knocked off     the cart/table, etc.

What about treating Acupuncture Points?

1. Yes, We have a point probe designed that     can be used on tender points, trigger     points, and acupuncture points..
2. We also have an optional "light guide"     accessory that allows you to treat small     points, the size of acupuncture points.
3. A lot of acupuncturists treat acupuncture     points with lasers like the Apollo even     though the FDA has not approved laser     for acupuncture. The FDA has cleared     laser for treating pain, and most     acupuncture or trigger points are painful     upon palpation.

Can it be used for Smoking Cessation?

1.  The FDA has not approved lasers for      smoking cessation, weight loss, or      any other addiction treatments, but      laser devices have been cleared to      treat pain and muscle spasm.
2.  Lasers might be helpful in relieving      the physical aches and pains               associated with withdrawal from      cigarettes or other substances.
